Trauma and the Exodus from Egypt Part I

In this month’s audio Rabbi Fohrman focuses on answering the questions: What is the connection between trauma/abuse and the Exodus from Egypt? Why did God use miracles to free the Israelites from slavery? Why not do it in a more subtle, naturalistic way? Rabbi Fohrman sat down with Aleph Beta writer Beth Lesch to work through some of his ideas. They start out the conversation discussing therapy and the nature of abuse (what does that have to do with Egypt? Listen and you'll see...) The result is an unscripted conversation, in which they zoom in on the figure of Moses and try to understand why he was chosen to be the savior of the Israelites.
